Testimonials

“Raj put me at ease immediately. From the get go it was clear that she is very knowledgeable and she really wanted to help my shoulder condition. After 5 treatments my mobility is almost back to normal and I'm off the painkillers I was taking for my condition. I really feel Raj is on my side.”
Lana

“I’ve had massages all my life and all over the world but I love having treatments from Raj, it’s like she magically tunes in to where my tensions are and melts them away. Her practice is comfortable, clean and relaxed and I always walk out feeling physically and mentally stronger.”
Hugh

“I love that Raj customizes the massages so I get the very best of her knowledge and experience, rather than an ‘out of the box’ session which many others simply churn out. She gives great advice and loves to educate, she is passionate about helping people and that makes such a difference.”

ButterflyTouch Massage

home visits for those with cancer, the elderly and palliative massage

I trained with Marie Duggan, the pioneer of ButterflyTouch and have over 4 years’ experience working on a voluntary basis with Pauls Cancer Charity providing home visiting palliative massage for those with cancer

Massage for Cancer

People with cancer, including those in remission suffer a plethora of difficulties some that are physical and some that are emotional. ButterflyTouch massage can help with symptoms of stress, fatigue, nausea and forms of neuralgia and also to decrease anxiety, agitation, help manage pain so as to empower people to better deal with their condition.

Massage for the Elderly

For the elderly, integrating ButterflyTouch massage therapy into their care regimen helps those suffering from emotional issues such as stress, loneliness or common ailments by increasing touch and connectedness into their lives and by reducing pain and improving a greater range of motion joints.

Palliative Massage

ButterflyTouch massage supports people both physically and mentally, providing relief to sore muscles for someone who is confined in a wheelchair or hospital bed, for example, as well as relaxation for the mind as they come to grips with their own mortality. Integrating ButterflyTouch into palliative care has been statistically found to provide significant changes in pain management, anxiety, relaxation and inner peace of patients, decreasing both pain intensity and anxiety while increasing the patients’ sense of relaxation and inner peace.

Qi Gong Lessons

I’ve been practicing Qi Gong and other Taoist energy work daily for over 30 years for my own personal health and wellbeing and I’m an insured and qualified Qi Gong instructor.  Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese system of healing energy medicine involving gentle movements with deep synchronised breathing.  It is one of the most effective self-healing methods in the world, the movements are very easy to learn, you don’t need fancy clothing or equipment and as little as just 10 minutes a day can make a huge difference to your health and vitality as the beneficial effects are cumulative.  Please contact me if you are interested in one to one sessions.  If you visit me for a massage, I will likely share with you a couple of Qi Gong exercises if I feel they may assist you.

Reiki

I can incorporate Reiki healing into massage if requested. This can be particularly beneficial for clients with cancer. Reiki is the Japanese form of hands on energy treatment; it is a natural therapy designed to positively boost our sense of well-being and balance.  Reiki has many health benefits and contributes to pain relief by promoting relaxation, which improves sleep patterns, while reducing stress and anxiety.  It is a very gentle and relaxing experience which assists in letting go of stress and strains, contributing to a sense of wellbeing, while providing emotional and spiritual support.

Soul Midwife Work

My Soul Midwife work is all about providing holistic end of life support by recognising the individual needs of the dying person and their family. People use many different names for this type of work, for example, End of Life Companion, Death Doula, End of Life Doula and Death and Dying Guide. My work is non-medical – it does not replace highly skilled medical professionals but works alongside them and supports the family and the person dying to engender a compassionate, peaceful and dignified death.

We all die, but there are good deaths, and not so good deaths. Most of us hope to die at home, pain free and surrounded by our loved ones. Unfortunately fewer and fewer of us achieve this. Most modern deaths are at best, efficient but clinical, institutionalised, functional and soul-less. I aim to redress that balance by providing empathic care, support and reassurance where the dying feel compassionately looked after so they can experience a ‘good death’. I use gentle holistic techniques to help alleviate pain and anxiety during the transitional stages towards death and support families and loved ones during these difficult times. My role is multi-faith and non-denominational.

I trained as a Soul Midwife with Felicity Warner who pioneered this work in the UK.

A good death is an extraordinary, moving and sacred experience. It can also have a healing quality,
not only for the person who is involved but their families, friends and the wider community.”

(Felicity Warner, Gentle Dying).

Volunteering

If there is righteousness in the heart, there will be beauty in the character.
If there is beauty in the character, there will be harmony in the home.
If there is harmony in the home, there will be order in the nations.
When there is order in the nations, there will peace in the world.

I’m a great believer in making a difference to peoples lives, particularly those less fortunate than myself and I feel blessed and grateful to be able to do so.  I’ve been a volunteer massage therapist at the London Marathon for several years and I also volunteered with Paul’s Cancer Charity in Clapham as part of their home visiting palliative massage team for several years.

I believe a strong community is paramount to individual wellbeing, we all have skills we can share and use to make our communities thrive.  If you have a community volunteer project which you would like me to be part of please contact me to discuss it.
